Artist's Statement:
Having been born and raised it an art and music environment, I was introduced at an early age to the wonders of various artistic disciplines. After extensive schooling in the fine arts, and having worked in the music, motion picture and fashion design fields, I have returned to photography as my artistic expression of choice. Being dismayed and quite frankly appalled at the almost universal use of photo editing programs, I am returning photography to its basic concept of capturing the beauty of life and portraying that beauty in its original state. When I was learning the craft of photography in the late 1960s, the phrase "Unretouched Photo" was a badge of honor. We viewed photo manipulation as "trick photography", a fun hobby for your kid sister, but not photography. With the advent of digital cameras and high speed personal computers, my contribution is to use modern technology to re-introduce the classic photographic approach. My photography is the result of seeing Mother Nature as the artist and myself as the messenger. My photos tell the truth. What you see it how it was at that moment in time, unretouched! PALMINTERI: THE ART OF THE CAMERA ON GRAFFITI:
Here'a a photo of me in the upper right hand corner with the "Saturday Knights" stage and show revue. We're in the New York Pavillion at the New York World's Fair in the summer of 1965. I was the rhythm guitaist for the group. The top row is the "Saturday Knights" band. The next row down is the backup vocalists, then the cheerleader squad, and the bottom row is the gymnast-tumbler team. The guy in the band with the hat (3rd from left) is actually one of the gymnasts, he was a 'plant' from the audience, and got thrown around quite a bit ! We put on a fabulous show. What memories !
