Animator/Director/Writer/Actor Keith Van Allen, after more than 20 years in animated cartoons on TV, is developing a visionary feature films of wonder humour and suspence. Having worked on characters like Tazmanian Devil, Care Bears, Chester Cheetos and commercials for Sears, Geico, McDonalds, etc, directing, designing, storyboarding and animating; he plans to make films that take you to other realms that may exist just behind the hallway door, across time and space, behind the fence post, beyond the mysterious sunset, or may result from Uncle Kenny driving up in his 1956 Plymouth with a saxophone in his trunk, Aunt Goo smiling in the sunshine and magical music in the air. Recently Keith has found a friend in the great Ray Bradbury, who has done him the honor of asking  him to make a film of one of his stories. Here is some art Keith did for Ray for his recent 88th birthday in August. Included is Ray's response.
Dear Keith:
Thank you so much for the fabulous illustration of me in the basement of my autumn house. I'll be showing this to many friends so that they can see your wonderful work. Good luck in the days and weeks ahead, Ray
A few days before Dad died, I had wanted to take one more picture of him, but somehow in the stillness of his room it seemed too obtrusive, so I took my sketch pad when I saw him posing so strongly for me. He was suddenly fascinated with the ceiling up at the corner of the wall. He wouldn't take his eyes off it. He'd done that once before years before in the hospital when he had a big operation and he saw a whole "bunch of strange people" looking at him from out of the clothes cabinet. Now as he neared his passing, he was definitely I feel looking as he often said, "beyond this veil of tears". Dad was a wonderful man who people never forgot; talented, funny, always speaking in a language of jokes, he could be wild and goofy but was serious too, unerringly fair and honest and always there for people. He was a natural teacher, storyteller, a painter, a poet and a real servant of the community, who helped found a rescue squad and a church and he taught all the first aid instructors in Chesterfield County and with faith like a rock. I often thought of him as a perfect guy to play St. Peter. We often did portraits or cartoons for each other, so when I showed him this my last drawing for him, he nodded approval and went to sleep. The expression on his face in case you're concerned is not sad, it's inspired concentration as he beholds with wonder "the undiscovered country" beyond the veil. Keith Van Allen
